Joel Turns 40!

Well about a week ago, Joel faced that momentous occasion we all dread. He turned 40! His actual birthday was fairly low key being a Wednesday. We had a nice dinner at home and cookies and ice cream for dessert. The boys and I had walked to Fleur D Lys bakery earlier in the day to make sure we had some good cookies! The big celebration actually came about 2 weeks prior to Joel's birthday when I threw him a surprise party. The party was held at McMenamins Kennedy School with about 40 of Joel's good friends, coworkers, and family. Joel was actually, truly, surprised which made me happy. I had put a lot of work into planning this party so I was very relieved that he hadn't figured anything out beforehand! One of the funniest parts of the party revolved around the old mustache Joel used to sport. I had printed some old photos of Joel complete with mustache to have on the tables at the party. To add on to the joke, one of Joel's coworkers bought a bunch of fake mustaches for everyone to wear. So if you see a picture of people with black mustaches, that's why!
